Tom Clancy's the division

02.2016

In 2015 Ubisoft worked closely with our sister company Monorex to design and produce graffiti graphics to go in the third person shooter game Tom Clancy's The Division. Ahead of the game's launch in 2016 Ubisoft approached High Rise to design and paint a 20m mural depicting the destruction of New York City in the game.

Working closely with Ubisoft's creative team our designer compiled the mural design from hundreds of game screenshots, Our team of artists then set to work painting the photo-real mural in a record 4 days.

The following week 6000 $1 notes from the game were attached to the wall with the game tagline 'When Society Falls, We Rise' scrawled across them. The public scrambled, climbing onto electricity boxes and using sticks to grab the $1 notes of green poison, winning prizes such as Xbox's, Tom Clancy merch and even a trip for two to New York!

guinness golden ale

08.2015

Our Guinness West Indies Porter mural back in the Autumn of 2014 is up there with the favourite graphics we've painted over the years, so when Guinness announced they would be releasing a new Golden Ale in the late summer of 2015 we were pretty excited to see the new label graphics and give Arthur Guinness' new product justice.

KIEHL'S LONDON FLAGSHIP

10.2014

Kiehl’s commissioned us to bring to life their brand history for the opening of a new two-storey flagship store in London. The L'Oreal skincare brand hails from 19th century New York when the dawn of advertising brought sign-painters into business. Our murals therefore intertwined traditional typography with floral illustrations and cityscapes. Three artists worked from 10pm to 5am over 2 days to complete the 30sqm artwork around store hours.

RIVALS

08.2014

In preparation for Ink Master’s 5th season premier, two vinyl arms were stretched a staggering 400 feet across New York's Times Square on Broadway, ready for inking. Our artists submitted sleeve tattoo designs to the client who selected L’Amour Supreme and artist duo The Yok & Sheryo to paint theirs freehand over 3 sleepless nights. In line with the competition’s “Rivals” series, the artists chose spray paint as their weapon in a dual of a lifetime. Whilst The Yok & Sheryo layered the left arm with America’s traditional pin-up tattoo style, L’Amour used his celebrated Mishka Clothing illustrations to saturate the right arm.

THE BREWERS PROJECT

10.2014

Guinness announced their new West Indies porter with a large mural in central London. Inspired by a brewer's diary dating back to 1801, the stout is a reminder of Guinness' heritage, tradition, and innovation. Our mural resonated with the brand's message using a Victorian tavern as its canvas and the simple imagery and typography typically painted by sign-writers of the time.

NOKIA LUMIA 930

08.2014

When launching the new Nokia phone, Microsoft wanted to engage its users with music-themed imagery. We sourced a music venue in London's punk neighbourhood, Camden Town, and asked our illustrator to connect the device with the building in his artwork. Once the fresh creative was approved, our three muralists translated the image onto the facade, rocking up an otherwise tame print ad.

RISK EVERYTHING

05.2014

As the England Football team prepared for 2014’s FIFA World Cup, one question was on the tip of every fan's tongue: “What are they going to wear?!” ...well, some fans. And for those, High Rise joined forces with Nike Football to paint kit launch murals across London. Designed by creative lab, ILoveDust, the campaign featured both photography and illustration, giving High Rise a range of styles to execute.

Southbank: 8,000 sq ft mural structure erected beside Thames River for England shirt launch, featuring Wayne Rooney and Jack Wilshere.

Clerkenwell: 50 ft tall mural featuring Wayne Rooney for World Cup duration.

SHOES ARE BORING, WEAR SNEAKERS

03.2013

Converse gave us an open brief and the artistic license to illustrate their "Shoes Are Boring" message in Shoreditch, and on a punk venue in Camden. The campaign then saw four giant posters being unveiled on Old Street, Brick Lane, and Great Eastern Street before the sneaker brand asked us to gather more artists and "punk" them. We soon layered gaudy graphics onto the vinyl skins, leaving fresh works of art for the trendy area to stop and appreciate.

What did we all learn? Billboards are boring. Paint murals.

11.2012

When Umbro collaborated with Footlocker, they asked us to bring together undiscovered talent from across the EU. We selected the finest artists from our network of newbies, and pitted them against each other in a live art battle event called "Secret Walls" to decide who would design a giant poster site for the sports brands. Four of our veteran artists mentored the competitors and free-hand painted a 48-sheet of their own.

All artists involved were featured on Umbro's website, YouTube channel, and in their print media alongside their football-inspired designs.

We paid tribute to influential British musicians with photorealistic murals across London, Manchester, and Glasgow, as part of Converse’s Connectivity campaign.

Laced up in chucks, the depicted musicians included Blur’s Graham Coxon, Hot Chips’s Alexis Taylor, Paloma Faith, and Bernard Sumner. Unlike the artists’ varying genres and generations, their Converse remained unchanged.

TAILORED BY ENGLAND

05.2010

As the 2010 FIFA World Cup teams were due to be announced, shirt sponsors, Umbro, commissioned us for their “Tailored by England” campaign. The day before England’s chosen squad was made public, we sent teams of muralists to every player’s hometown to paint their shirt number in a former haunt - schools, clubs, and pubs included. All 23 murals, including one in Italy for manager Capello, were completed, photographed, and released in print and tv ads within 24 hours. This resulted in 31 pieces of media coverage and 52 million total impressions.

DESIGNED FOR LIFE

09.2010

Inspired by our live art series, Secret Walls, Suzuki challenged us to approach their new car's campaign with freestyle illustration that captured its benefits and character whilst appealing to a young target audience. These lifestyle designs for the Suzuki Swift were then channelled across media channels worldwide. We held two illustration sessions that were captured in the television advert and streamed live into all major London train stations. We then pushed the brief further by designing three posters for use in out of home and print media.
